Sabrina ‘discovered’ Volleyball in her pre-teen years and simply fell in love with the sport.  She played for her Middle School in Apex, NC and then went on to letter on her varsity team at Robbinsville High School in Robbinsville, NC.  She was the starting setter.  At Appalachian State University, Sabrina enjoyed playing club volleyball. Her coaching career began with the Fayetteville Home School Crusaders in North Carolina in 2010. After moving to Charleston, she joined the LC Wildcat program and has been coaching since 2018. She says, “Winning is wonderful, but a positive attitude and perseverance is what I value most on the court!” Honored to have coached all 3 of her daughters and many other wonderful, young people. Beginning and ending every practice and game with a prayer is very powerful; something she always tries to do. Looking forward to a successful season!

Varsity Head Coach

Van Morrison

Contact: coachvan@LowcountryWildcats.com

Coach Van learned beach volleyball in his teen years in Panama City Beach, Fl. And after joining the Navy in 1995 he continued to play and was later transferred to Viriginia Beach, Va. During those years in the Navy, they had four children which he taught them volleyball and tennis.

In September of 2008, they moved to Charleston and Coach Van started playing beach volleyball again regularly in Mt Pleasant and Sullivan’s Island. Once his kids got to middle and high school age, he started volunteering to assist several teams in the Goose Creek/Hanahan Area. As they got older his kids started coaching as well.

In 2019, Coach Van and his son (Chris) started coaching at the Goose Creek Recreation Center every Friday and Sunday afternoon. Which they still do today and has continued to be a great opportunity to learn more about the game and a way to practice mechanics and defense.

In 2022, Coach Van accepted the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Cane Bay Cobras in Summerville while his daughter played for the JV team. During that time he enjoyed teaching clinics and working on different skills such as passing, setting and rotations.

In the spring of 2023, Coach Van accepted the Assistant Varsity Coach position for the Summerville Baptist Church team (College of Charleston) where his daughter played. This was a great experience in team building and in providing encouragement to others while teaching volleyball. The athletes had a great season and made many new friends.

In 2023, after the school year was over his daughter transferred over to homeschool and he found the Wildcats team on the Tri-Area Volleyball Facebook page. After the tryoout and his daughter made the JV team, later mid-season he was offered the JV Head Coach position and accepted. He was very proud of the team's hard work and record in such a short time.

While being the head coach last year for the JV Team was such an enjoyment, Coach Van looks forward to working with the varsity athletes this year on more than just volleyball mechanics and on also being a good teammate and having a positive attitude.

Amy Campbell

Contact: coachamy@LowcountryWildcats.com

Amy started playing volleyball in 6th grade and has loved it ever since. She was the starting setter on 4 state championship teams in high school and was being recruited by USC to play in college. She ended up playing basketball for the College of Charleston, but never lost a love of the sport playing intramural and beach volleyball competitively in the off season.

Amy has been teaching in a local public high school for the last 8 years, but graduated her children out of homeschool before going back to the classroom. Having homeschooled her children gives her a passion for seeing the other children in the homeschool community get positive meaningful opportunities as they are maturing and becoming the person God made them to be. With that in mind, she is looking forward to motivating and encouraging the girls to pursue excellence in a sport as they learn how to model their lives after Christ in everything they do.

Middle School Head Coach

Trudi Pieper

Trudi started playing volleyball for her junior high team in 7th grade.  She fell in love with the sport and continued playing through high school at Quincy Senior High.  She went on to play volleyball at Fontbonne College for 1 year, and then Lindenwood University for 3 years.  She was a 4 year starter, playing left-side hitter and back row.  While in college Trudi also began coaching club volleyball for 12U, 14U, and 16U teams in the St. Louis, MO area.  After graduating, Trudi began teaching high school mathematics at Kirkwood High school, where she also coached the freshman and JV teams.  She continued her education, earning a Master’s degree in school counseling.  She then became a school counselor at Ritenour High School, where she also coached the freshman volleyball team.

Trudi and her family moved to the Lowcountry in 2015 and their homeschooling journey began when her daughter started 5th grade.  Trudi’s daughter began playing for the Wildcats in 2024 and she also fell in love with volleyball.  Seeing that spark and passion reminded Trudi of her own love of the game.  After watching her daughter play for the Wildcats and seeing the blessing the program was for the girls, Trudi felt called to coach again.  Trudi believes that having fun while working hard to learn the fundamentals of the game are key to developing a young team.  She also knows the importance of teamwork and the relationships that are made as part of a team.  Trudi’s goal is to create a team culture that encourages each girl to be her best self on and off the court, and most importantly that glorifies God.  She’s looking forward to teaching, encouraging, and building up the new group of middle school girls this year.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.”
